How to reconstitute research peptides.

A short, lab-grade walk-through of how to mix lyophilized research peptides with bacteriostatic water — including common ratios, storage, and pitfalls. For laboratory research use only.

Step 1

Gather your supplies

  • Your lyophilized peptide vial (kept refrigerated until use).
  • Bacteriostatic water — sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol.
  • A sterile 1 mL or 3 mL syringe with a fine-gauge needle.
  • Alcohol swabs and a clean, flat work surface.
Step 2

Pick a reconstitution volume

Volume is a tradeoff between draw precision and convenience. Common ratios for research vials:

2 mg vial1–2 mL water
5 mg vial1–3 mL water
10 mg vial2–3 mL water
20 mg vial2–5 mL water

Need exact numbers for your dose? Use the peptide dosing calculator — it solves for concentration, draw volume, and syringe units.

Step 3

Reconstitute slowly

  1. Wipe both vial stoppers with an alcohol swab and let them air-dry.
  2. Draw your chosen water volume into the syringe.
  3. Inject the water slowly down the inside glass wall of the peptide vial. Do not aim the stream at the powder.
  4. Once added, swirl the vial gently between your fingers until the peptide fully dissolves. Do not shake — agitation can denature the peptide chain.
Step 4

Label and store

Reconstituted peptides should be stored at 2–8 °C and protected from light. Label the vial with the date, water volume, and resulting concentration (mg/mL). Most reconstituted peptides remain stable for 2–4 weeks refrigerated; check your CoA for compound-specific guidance.
